Anatomical models are widely used for the teaching of surgical skills in arthroscopy. ' Dry ' models teach these skills by the use of an arthroscope and video equipment, but they have the disadvantage of not being able to demonstrate effectively the equipment necessary for the use of arthroscopic surgery in live patients.

' Dry ' models also do not allow the students or teachers of arthroscopic surgery to use modern power instruments such as shavers and burrs that are imperative in cutting, shaving and smoothing intra-articular tissues such as bone, cartilage, menisci and ligaments.' Dry ' models also do not contain facsimile hyaline cartilage covering the ends of bones and are therefore not able to demonstrate the procedure of "chondroplasty ",or removal of chondral flaps.

Our ' Wet ' knee models are able to show the use of irrigation systems in the knee which are important where intra- articular procedures such as repair of tears in the meniscus, partial meniscectomy, chondroplasty, the removal of loose bodies in the joint and ligament reconstruction are performed.

Our knee products are made entirely of rubber and have been used extensively for the teaching of arthroscopy by the Knee Foundation in Droitwich using water irrigation and hand and power instruments. Students of arthroscopy are able to perform an extensive range of surgical procedures using our ' wet ' knees.

The students also familiarise themselves with cameras and light sources, and learn to orientate themselves effectively during arthroscopic procedures.
